Objectives of Group

Ladies, Let's Give it a Go!!!! Women of Wilton, Connecticut, this is the organization that we all have been waiting for. It includes women of all ages, has no rules and allows only fun. We plan our own outings and do our own thing, whatever it might be. There are groups of this organization in Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Easton, Newtown, Stamford and Fairfield, but none in Wilton. What are we waiting for?? Let's do it!! The organization I am telling you about is "The Red Hat Society" founded by two California ladies and based on a poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. The poem begins by saying, When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter... Now don't get me wrong. This is not an organization for old women only. It's for any lady who enjoys being with others and is not afraid to go in public dressed in a beautifully decorated red hat and a lovely purple outfit. If you have heard of the "Red Hat Society" you must have been south for the winter, because everywhere I went in Florida and North Carolina, people were talking about it. In one small town there were five groups already organized and another being formed. Some groups are very large with over 60 members and others are as small as eight members, but growing.
